Brunch in the RGV

Among our favorite things to do on the weekends besides unwinding and relaxing is brunch. We are especially excited that more delicious options are constantly emerging in the Rio Grande Valley.

For my husband and I, brunch is our most unhurried meal of the week. We are constantly looking for places with savory dishes that can be paired with a delicious drink or two. Brunch, which is a combination of breakfast and lunch, is usually eaten late in the morning or early in the afternoon. A typical brunch combines classic foods like french toast, pancakes or waffles with rich egg dishes. Although we are always trying new dishes, our absolute favorite is eggs benedict. We get so excited when we find places that add their own twist to our favored brunch dish.

With this said, here are some of our favorite spots to enjoy brunch in the RGV. We will update this list as we come across more spots to share.

La Casa de La Abuela - McAllen, Texas

This was our first time trying La Casa de la Abuela in McAllen! If you’ve never been here, here’s what we had to help you order:

* Croissant con huevos benedictinos (their take on eggs benedict)

* Migas a la Mexicana

* Cafes lecheros

This restaurant was really cute and classy! We loved everything about it and service was great.

On the Grill Restaurant - Pharr, Texas

Brunch for 2 in the Rio Grande Valley for less than $20!

On The Grill Restaurant in Pharr has a great and affordable brunch menu and $2 mimosas!

Here’s what we ordered:

* Huevos Molcajete

*Migas a la Mexicana

* Short Stack of Pancakes
