Michelin Star Chef Graham Campbell opens restaurant in the Rio Grande Valley

As part of our efforts to share new and exciting experiences, we are launching a new Fine Dining in the RGV series featuring various new restaurants in South Texas in collaboration with our friends at RGVino.

To kick off the series, we visited Rosmaní, a brand new fine dining restaurant in McAllen, Texas by Michelin Star Chef Graham Campbell.

Chef Campell, the youngest person from Scotland to be awarded a Michelin Star and a contestant in Netflix's show "The Final Table," is a genius when it comes to flavors, combinations, and attention to detail according to the restaurant's website. His cuisine has enormous respect for the nature of ingredients, which Chef Campbell enhances and elevates to create truly unique fusions.

Rosmaní McAllen is Chef Campbell's first restaurant in Texas with his next location soon to open in Dallas. The restaurant's design is chic and modern, offering spacious indoor and outdoor seating.

As part of our unforgettable culinary experience, we started our journey with a cheese board and ordered the 7 Course Tasting Menu with Wine consisting of the chef's amuse, hand-dived scallops, marinated foie gras, bass, venison, a pre-dessert, and dessert. While everything was absolutely exquisite, our favorite courses were without a doubt the rich and juicy venison with butternut squash, crispy kale, and delicious juniper.

Packed with delicious flavor, each course was also carefully paired with a complimentary wine which amazed our palate as we experienced the exquisite food.

While this was a truly divine experience, the menu at Rosmani will be changing each week to offer new and unique dining experiences to guests. In addition to offering 7 and 10-course tasting menus, Chef Campbell offers an Á La Carte Menu providing guests with simpler 2 or 3-course options.

To ensure you have a great experience, reservations must be made in advance online or via phone. Visit their website for more information.

Wine Pairings by @RGVino

We are a couple of wine lovers that call the RGV home and we are so excited to start a new collaboration with our friends at Life in the 956. Our goal is to provide you with a monthly inside look at great restaurants... with great wine of course... right here at home.

This past weekend we had a Fabulous 7-Course dinner at the new Rosmani in McAllen. The Chef is from Scotland and he is the youngest to get a Michelin star in Europe, our expectations were high and it did not disappoint.

The entire meal had curated wines with each dish and the ambiance was ideal for a Saturday night. We would like to give a special shoutout to our hostess April for her great recommendations and Arnoldo Gonzalez one of the partners who made this experience in the RGV possible.

Wines

  • 2018 Riesling Eroica from the Chateau Ste. Michelle in Washington State. Great pairings for this wine consist of Asian dishes, Indian curries, crab, scallops

  • 2019 Bieler Père & Fils Bandol from southeastern France, which was a fabulous pairing with the chef’s marinated foie gras

  • 2018 Bench Pinot Noir from Sonoma Valley. A light red wine that surprisingly pairs well with a Sea Bass dish

  • 2018 3V (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Tempranillo), paired with the perfectly prepared Venison with butternut squash, kale and juniper

  • Risata, paired perfectly with the Autumn Berries Dessert

  • Robert Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles, amazing pairing with the chocolate Soufflé

Don’t miss this amazing culinary experience here in the RGV! We highly recommend it.
